Arrival of Timothy
A BIG Welcome to Timothy.
Timothy joins us from the Metropolitan Police, he retired from service a few years ago and was very kindly given a home by a lovely lady and her family.
Unfortunately due to some sad personal news, the police were now looking to find a new home for Timothy. Timothy was a big part of their family and they liked to spoil him rotten. We know that this would have been a very hard decision for his previous owners to make.
When the news came from London that another horse needed a new retirement home we said yes we were sure we could squeeze him in somewhere, then it became very apparent that this was no ordinary police horse, he was in fact a Shire Cross, and it seems that he is more Shire than Cross. Timothy is over 18 hands with huge feet and a huge tummy, he loves his food.
So it was arranged for Timothy to come to us, the Metropolitan police got involved and early one Sunday
morning in April he made his way to Devon in the biggest horse lorry the Metrolpolitan Police could find.
When Timothy arrived you could see the look of relief on his face, it had been a very long journey and he was pleased to be able to have a big bowl of food and a new stable to rest in. His owner came with him to make sure that he settled in and we’re not sure who was more upset to be parted her or Timothy.
It has taken some time for Timothy to settle in, he unfortunately became very homesick and for the first two weeks he was very down, but now he has teamed up with Copperfield and the pair of them are very happy together.
We are very happy to have Timothy here at DHAPS, he has added to our numbers and is now the the 8th Police Horse. He is still spoilt and it comes as no surprise that he has become a favourite.
