Lewis is looking for a new home, can you help?
Due to circumstances Lewis is returning to the Sanctuary and we are now looking to find him a good home, please read his profile and please let us know if you can help?
Lewis is a beautiful 16h Thorough Bred, he retired two years ago from international show jumping and is now looking for a new home with someone that is experienced and also has the time to spend with him. Lewis came to the Sanctuary in April 2010 as his breeder/owner was unable to keep him any longer due to the recession.
It is also believed that because Lewis was retired from competition he was no longer of any use to them. His vet contacted us to let us know that Lewis needed to find a new home asap as his current owners were unable to care for him any longer.
Lewis when he arrived was incredibly nervous, in the last year he has gained a good amount of weight and he has settled into his new surroundings. Lewis does have a habit of wind sucking but this has been become less in the time he has been with us and he only seems to do it when he is anxious or with another horse with the same habit.
Lewis bonds well with other horses but he tends to be submissive so can easily be bullied, plus he can also get attached is a mare is around. We would suggest that Lewis goes to a home where he has a small companion or riding buddy. He has a lovely nature and is good to handle, we believe he would make someone a lovely horse as long as he is well cared for. Lewis needs someone that is very experienced and can give him plenty of love and time, he thrives on attention but needs a gentle but firm hand when riding as can he can spook, he would do well to ride out initially with other horses until he is very familiar to his new owner and routes.
