A Sad Day for Timothy
Timmy Peacefully Passed away on 4 April 2011
Timothy was an 18.2 Shire Cross, he came to us in 2010 as a retired 26 year old Metropolitan Police horse. Timothy was a wonderful gentle giant who loved his food and human company. Unfortunately Timothy suffered from stiff hind legs caused by a degenarative bone disease, the disease became too much for Timothy and before it came to the point where he wouldn't be able to carry his own weight, it was decided that it was kinder for Timmy to go to sleep where he wouldn't be in any more pain. Timmy peacefully passed away on 4 April 2011, we spent the day giving him all sorts of treats and cuddles and when the vet arrived, he was happy to stand there while the vet did what he had to do and as he passed away he watched all of his friends in a far field running around in the afternoon sun, we hope that in spirit he was running around with them.
Timothy will be sadly missed by everyone here at the Sanctuary and although he only spent a year with us, it was a year where he enjoyed being free to live on the moor and making good friends with all the other horses including Copperfield who we are sure will miss him the most.
We would like to give our thanks to our helpers at the Sanctuary who made Timothy's last days with us as comfortable as possible and also spent time with him before he passed away, we would also like to thank our Vet Kevin Pegler who gave Timothy the respect he deserved right up until the end.
Rest In Peace Timothy, a wonderful horse with heart of gold.
