Our Latest Arrival: Athens

June 2007

Athens arrived at the Sanctuary in early June after being retired from the Metropolitan Police, due to ill health.

He is a very handsome fourteen year old, 16.2 dark bay gelding, and makes a very welcome addition to the other Police horses both from Metropolitan and Bristol & Avon Police forces.

COPPERFIELD'S WHISKERS GET THE VOTE

A much-loved carriage horse at a Westcountry stately home is retiring on a high, having won national acclaim for his grand whiskers. The Devon Horse and Pony Sanctuary at Manaton has agreed to give the him loving home and retirement he so richly deserves!

The Devon Horse and Pony Sanctuary is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Equestrian editor Annabel Groom speaks to its founder about her passion for protecting these beautiful creatures.

The Devon Horse and Pony Sanctuary celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. The charity began in 1976 with the intention of staying small but today is home to 55 equine residents who live as one big and very happy family.
