We wanted to have a section where visitors to the site could find our latest news, read about recent events and look back at previous features and news items. And so it was that we thought of having a News page .......

The Sanctuary has always had terrific support from the media, with the national press, local newspapers and radio stations featuring it's work and we realised that we also needed a Press page to post news items in a format that the media can use.
Because many of our stories would feature in both sections we decided to combine the two, and so we have arrived at our ..... News and Press Page!

Our Latest Arrival: Athens June 2007 Athens arrived at the Sanctuary in early June after being retired from the Metropolitan Police, due to ill health. He is a very handsome fourteen year old, 16.2 dark bay gelding, and makes a very welcome addition to the other Police horses both from Metropolitan and Bristol & Avon Police forces.

CHRIS RAN THE GREAT NORTH RUN 1st October 2006 Chris Hills very kindly offered to run the Great North Run in Newcastle on the 1st October 2006, on our behalf. COPPERFIELD'S WHISKERS GET THE VOTE! 31 August 2006 A much-loved carriage horse at a Westcountry stately home is retiring on a high, having won national acclaim for his grand whiskers. The Devon Horse and Pony Sanctuary at Manaton has agreed to give the him loving home and retirement he so richly deserves!

The charity began in 1976 with the intention of staying small but today is home to 55 equine residents who live as one big and very happy family.
