The Residents of DHAPS

All who live at the Sanctuary

P.T. Barnum

P.T. Barnum is a retired race horse who has had a prestigious career.
When Barnum retired at 8 years old, he was sent off to be retrained and to start a new life as a riding horse but unfortunately an injury to his shoulder has prevented him from a carrying on so he joins us for early retirement on Dartmoor with his new friend Ranger.

Barnum has settled in so well and he is safe in the knowledge that he has a home for life without any pain of discomfort from riding

Herbie

Miniature Spotted Horse

Herbie came to us in 2011 through the RSPCA. Herbie has a very sad past, he was in a herd of Stud horses that were neglected by their owner. The RSPCA found that most of the stud horses has passed away from the neglect and Herbie was at deaths door, thankfully he was saved and we offered his a home. From then on he has been a companion pony until his companion passed away and now in his old age, he is in the gang of our Mini Equines and he is loving life.
